We return to the coast to visit Ephesus, which is of incomparable beauty, also because of its sloping position towards the sea, once right next to the city but now a few kilometres away. We walk along the ancient streets among the ruins of shops, temples, fountains, a theatre the magnificent Library of Celsus, thermal baths, the Prytaneum and the Bouleterion. Once the visit to the ancient city is over, we reach the so-called “House of the Virgin Mary,” a little church from the 1st century that according to legend is the house where the Virgin Mary passed away, before rising to the heavens. Then we reach Kuşadası, a modern port city, where we spend the night.
